NOTICE OF WAITING LIST CLOSURE FOR THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (SECTION 8)

As of February 28, 2022, at 4:30 p.m., the Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) and Community Action Center (CAC) will be closing the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8/HUD) waiting list for Whitman County to all new applicants.

Both SHA and CAC do not take this action lightly and recognize the tremendous need for affordable housing in our area. In compliance with Federal code 24 CFR 982.206, and as recommended by the Housing Choice Voucher Program Guidebook, SHA and CAC have determined that the wait for housing for new applicants has become unreasonable. The waiting list will close until such a time that the wait time for available housing is no longer 12-24 months from the time of application.

For those currently without housing, please contact Community Action Center at 509-334-9147 and inquire about other housing options that may be available. For additional information and resources, please visit our website at www.cacwhitman.org
