Community Action Center COVID19 Operations Update

Public & walk-up access is limited, but CAC remains an essential service

Community Action Center is an essential service provider of food, shelter, and social services under the Governor’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order, and we do continue to provide needed services and resources in Whitman County.

As of August 25, our CAC lobby has once again closed to the general public, and we have closed the window at the front desk.
To reduce the potential spread of infection, we now ask folks to use email or telephone to speak with our receptionist, staff members, or to make appointments. While this creates barriers for some, we continue to use masks, social distancing, and other cleaning and hygiene protocols to help continue this work!

It is important to help those who have needs, and to get them connected to services at CAC. If you are experiencing difficulty making connections, please email cac@cacwhitman.org to let us know how we can help.

Food Bank distributions remain curbside from 11-1 PM on Wednesdays, 2-4 pM on Thursdays

We are working on a more efficient system for distributions and will be sharing that soon!

Donations to Community Food Bank

We are once again encouraging food donations. We humbly ask our generous community members to call the Front Desk (509-334-9147) to make an appointment to donate food at the double doors at the SE corner of our Food Bank. We still encourage monetary donations at cacwhitman.org/donate/. Your dollar will go farther in buying food than if you spend it yourself at the store!

Larger, corporate food donations can be arranged by phone. For example, restaurants and WSU food service may arrange these with Ashley Vaughan by appointment. This provides opportunity to distribute good food that would otherwise go unused in the event of a closure or change in operations.

We continue to work with Public Health and Healthcare providers to provide quarantine and isolation rooms for those who have no other housing to do so!
