Community Action Center COVID19 Operations Update

March 24, 2020

CAC remains open as an essential service

Community Action Center is an essential service provider of food, shelter, and social services under the Governor’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order on March 23, 2020.

As of today, our CAC lobby remains open, while we have closed the window at the front desk. To reduce the potential spread of infection, we now ask visitors to use a wall phone in the lobby to speak with our receptionist. While this may seem awkward for some, we will maximize the Social Distancing we continue to implement in this work!

It is important to those who come to visit us as their last resort that they can actually come into CAC’s space and get connected to services at CAC. We may not be able to continue offering this access permanently but will adapt and notify as the circumstances change.

Donations to Community Food Bank

We are discouraging food donations for now. We humbly ask our generous community members to donate online at cacwhitman.org/donate/

Larger, corporate food donations can be arranged by phone. For example, restaurants and WSU food service may arrange these with Ashley Vaughan or Joe Astorino by appointment. This provides opportunity to distribute good food that would otherwise go unused in the event of a closure or change in operations.

Have a great week Staying Home and Staying Healthy!
